Frequently Asked Questions

What's a typical day like?

You'll be in people's homes, part of their mornings, their routines and the rhythm of their day. Some people need help with everyday tasks. Others have complex clinical needs that call for specialist training. Either way, you're showing up for someone who genuinely needs you there.

Do I need experience?

This can vary depending on the job. However, we do take on people with no care experience as Care Cadets. Routes provides full training, mentorship and help to achieve your Care Certificate qualification.

What training will I get?

You'll train through Routes Academy, which won Training Initiative of the Year at the British Training Awards 2025. Any clinical task you learn is observed and signed off by a nurse before you do it on your own.

Can I build a career in care?

Yes. Routes Academy offers fully funded apprenticeships and diplomas, with clear routes into senior, specialist and management roles as you grow.

What kinds of roles are there?

Hands-on roles include care assistants, support workers, complex care assistants, live-in carers and end of life care workers. There are office-based roles too, like care coordinators and healthcare assessors.

What happens when I get in touch?

Suleman will have a chat with you about the roles near you, what suits you and what the next steps look like. No pressure, and no long forms to start with.
